Northfield Dance Academy’s Competition Program is quickly becoming known for its strong dance technique, creative choreography, and team bonding. Our emphasis is to instill confidence, self-discipline and a sense of achievement by providing a quality dance education in an encouraging and uplifting environment.
NDA’s Competition and Pre-Competition Teams are for the dedicated dancer who wishes to compete in regional and national competitions. Competition team members require a strong commitment, willingness to work hard, a passion for dance, and a drive for self-improvement. Being part of our competition or pre-competition teams is an experience your child won’t forget and the friendships they develop are priceless.
Here’s how it works:
Competition dancers (ages 7 to 18) audition for a team in the summer and attend summer camp. In the fall, they take classes in tap, jazz, ballet, and lyrical and compete at competitions in the spring. Competition dancers are eligible to be chosen for solos, duets, trios, and additional small group routines. Dancers perform a minimum of four routines in our
year-end recital and also have the opportunity to perform in community events.
Pre-Competition dancers (ages 5 to 9) are not required to audition and have the option of attending summer camp. In the fall, they take classes in tap, jazz and ballet; and compete at competitions in the spring. Pre-Competition dancers perform a minimum of three routines in our year-end recital and also have the opportunity to perform at community events.
The Pre-Competition program is designed to give dancers and parents a “taste” of what competition dance is all about!
